This is what the rain brings

This was so fascinating to me. After our 4" of rain on Saturday, the low spot on our driveway had water sitting on it and as I was walking by I spot a few pink balls of what looked to be lint or some sort of fabric. I stopped to get a closer look and discovered that it wasn't lint at all. It was balls of tiny worms. Now, I know this looks disgusting, but isn't it strange and yet amazingly interesting? Ray said the worms were in a mating ball or was it a mating wad?.. I don't know but I'm sure he knew what he was talking about.

And just to make things more interesting, I'm including a video so that you can see them in action along with the snails that were also in mass attendance.

I wish I could access you site from the school. I have a few male students who would oooh and aaahh over this. How wicked! And really, really gross.

Okay, that is the freakiest thing I've EVER seen! Eww!

And, your husband totally cracked me up calling it a worm orgy! LOL

Did you leave them alone or dispose of them? I know I would have disposed of it. Uck! The thought of it in my yard would have been enough to give me nightmares! LOL I'm such a girl. They didn't look like regular earth worms?? I wonder what kind they were?

That was really gross but my son will think it's cool. I'll show him tonight.

Totally gross, but I couldn't stop watching those things! How did you get rid of them? I think I would have turned the water hose on them. I know that would have become a biological /ecological science experiment with my kids. ang

Oh my. I couldn't bring myself to watch the video. We had over 9" of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Amazing and fascinating and I'm not grossed out at all. Course I went to school for bugs, so maybe I'm not girly enough to NOT appreciate them, lol. Think I'll go watch again because it's just that cool.

Ha what a gorgeous blog. I'm new to blogging and found your site as one does...by accident. Just loved the video of block party with kids dancing. This song (Shout)was a huge hit in the early 60's in Ausralia by a chap known as the Wild One...Mr Johnny O'Keefe (now deceased).
