Reverse Psychology

There's an ice storm in our forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Not the news I wanted to hear when those are the two days that I report to work this week. Not only will I drive to the other side of town over slippery, icy roads but I will also trek across an icy parking lot that is free of any hand holds if by chance I might lose my footing.

It seems that the more I hate winter, the more I become a target for this frigid abuse. If I'm being punished for my strong hostility towards this colder season then I'm willing to change for the greater good. From this day forward, I will "adore" winter.

Winter creed:
I'll embrace the prickly coldness of its winds and envelop the stings of its icy rain. I will laugh at it's playful attempts to bring me down on my rear. I will prevail.

After all, it's only 54 days until Spring.

I can get my mind around the whole ridiculously cold thing, but the ice is a whole other thing. My rear wheel drive car really just can't do it. I'll need to make a run to the store tonight to make sure I'm stocked with espresso beans and other need-ables, just in case. Hope weather guy is wrong! :)

I hate winter! I am so looking forward to spring. If it wants to do something I would rather it snow, but we always seem to get ice. Yuck! Try to stay warm. :)

What is it with this state and winter?! Why can't we just get snow already and skip all the yucky ice stuff.

I think I need to adopt your decree as well.

I grew up with cold, wind, and snow in the mountain west (Dad was a Forest Ranger after all.) and I don't mind those things. I hate ice. I never had to deal with it until I moved to Texas and now in Oklahoma.

hehehe, well I am witcha & have just accepted it too... We used to live in Fl
(moved here just over 3 years ago) so now I have to hear from my bff's back home about how they sun at the beach, going out in their boat/jet ski ect... Blach!!! Who need sun, right?? We love black ice, schools closed for 3 days because of a dusting, loosing 5 of our 8 trees because the branches bent and broke during the freeze!! wooohoo!
Okay, maybe not but the possitive attitude really does help! Great post! ;) ♥ LA

Isn't your throat feeling a little scratchy? Got stuffed up sinuses? Feeling that awful "thickness" behind your eyes? If you start complaining now you could legitimately take a sick day and spend Mon & Tues in your jammies...Just trying to help.

hahaha! that's not gonna work. i'm nothing else if not honest. hold onto your hostility, it may warn you when it gts too frigid.

I can live with cold. I don't mind it. I even like snow. It's the ICE and SLEET that I despise. Ah well... so long as I have power, I will be happy. That's what I'm telling myself until the power goes out. LOL!
